QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
PREFERRED
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy is required
- A post graduate qualification in Pharmacy (preferably a master’s degree) is preferred (will reduce one (1) years form the required years of experience)
Experience
- Inpatient Phramacist: minimum of one (1) year experience as a hospital pharmacist in a short-term acute care hospital is required
- Outpatient Pharmacist: minimum of one (1) year of pharmacy practice experience, preferably in a hospital pharmacy is required (note: experience as a sales representative or in a drug store is not acceptable)
- For Private Sector: completion of an accredited internship (minimum 1500 hours) after graduation, plus Abu Dhabi Health Authority written exam and an interview
- Health care industry experience is preferred
Certification and Licensure
- Current national license is required
Job Specific Skills and Abilities
- Ability to accurately interpret physician orders
- Proficient in the use of PCs, spreadsheets and other software applications
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains control and security of all drugs
- Reviews, interprets and verifies patient’s information and medication orders for processing
- Advises prescribers of medication-related issues and recommends alternate medications
- Provides general and patient specific drug information to patients, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals
- Checks final processed orders and approves for delivery or release
- Performs routine pharmacotherpeutic monitoring
- Interacts routinely with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to provide optimal pharmaceutical care to patients
- Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities (i.e., clinical interventions and follow-ups)
- Supervises the activities of Pharmacy support personnel related to the timely and accurate preparation, processing and delivery of medication orders
- Supports the formulary and restricted drug programs
- Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, operate audiovisual equipment used during training programs, physically move, lift and carry training equipment and materials, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout CCAD, stand in front of an audience for up to eight (8) hours a day and lift up to 30 lbs.
