Facility Executive

Job Description

The Facility Executive in Engineering and Maintenance is responsible for the smooth operation and maintenance of the facility’s infrastructure and systems. This role involves overseeing the daily operations, ensuring the building and equipment are maintained, and implementing proactive solutions to ensure safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance of the facility, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure the building structure, including roofing, flooring, windows, and doors, is in good condition.
  • Coordinate repairs and replacements of damaged or aging equipment.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance plan to minimize downtime and equipment failures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any facility-related issues, such as equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.
  • Ensure all systems are working efficiently to optimize energy usage and reduce operational costs.
  • Ensure the facility meets all local, state, and federal safety regulations, codes, and environmental laws.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and building codes.
  • Implement and maintain safety protocols, including fire drills, emergency preparedness plans, and the safe operation of equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify safety hazards or non-compliance issues.
  • Prepare and manage the budget for facility operations, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Source and manage vendors and contractors for facility-related services, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor inventory levels for facility maintenance materials, tools, and equipment, and make necessary purchases.
  • Plan and manage facility renovation, construction, and expansion projects.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and internal teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of ongoing projects.
  • Supervise a team of maintenance staff, including engineers, technicians, and custodial personnel.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to team members.
  • Manage performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Utilize building management systems (BMS) or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment performance.
  • Implement smart building technologies to enhance energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Monitor and optimize energy consumption to reduce environmental impact and operational costs.
  • Develop and implement sustainability initiatives, such as waste reduction, energy conservation, and water efficiency programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility management, maintenance, or engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and vendor relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with building management software and CMMS.
  • Certification in facilities management (e.g., CFM, FMP) is a plus.
