Job Description

To be responsible to guide a team of maintenance personnel, including engineers and technicians in day to day
maintenance of the hospital building and non-medical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for taking decision on project work being carried out inside the hospital premises.
  • Responsible for upgrading and modernization of utility equipment in various areas.
  • Dealing with government organizations and other establishments in relation with maintenance department.
  • Responsible for planning, costing and execution of various projects inside the hospital premises.
  • Taking policy decision in co-ordination with the management.
  • To be responsible to look after the welfare of the staff in the department.
  • Fixing of contractors for specific jobs with the help of system-in-charge.
  • Long-term planning in taking up renovation/modifications.
  • Responsible to prepare and project budget for maintenance activities.
  • To contribute to Quality initiatives
  • To train the staff for effective application and up-gradation of equipment.
  • Conveying day-to-day meeting of engineers/supervisors and analyzing problems and finding solutions.
  • To co-ordinate with other departments for different projects.
  • To analyze the day-to-day problems which are recurring in nature and finding solutions for the same.
  • To do the appraisal of the staff with the help of Assistant Engineer and System In charges.
  • To analyze the complaints and take necessary actions.
  • To take personnel decisions regarding the staff.
  • Fixing of contractors for specific jobs with the help of system in-charge.
  • Long-term planning in taking up renovations /modifications.
  • To be responsible for disciplined departmental functioning.
  • To contribute to Quality initiatives
  • To perform any job /work as and when assigned by the superior.
  • To set up specific targets in the departments.
  • To see work related problems faced by Technicians/supervisors and finding solutions.
  • To perform any job /work as and when assigned by the superior.
  • To manage the respective section in day-to-day activities.
  • To carry out all routine, preventive maintenance scheduling.
  • To organize manpower, materials for the day-to-day activities.
  • To assign work for technicians.
  • To overlook the contract jobs in the respective fields.
  • To take care of welfare of the staff.
  • To be a member of the FMS committee and to contribute actively.
  • To identify risk factors and take necessary actions.
  • Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements
  • Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
  • Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
  • Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports
  • Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
  • Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
  • Ensure as far as reasonably practicable that any workplaces they manage or control are safe and without risks to health, safety or the environment.
  • Ensure implementation of applicable HAAD, NMCRH OSHMS and infection control policies and standards
  • Ensure adequate budget and resources for FMS/OSH/PCI management.
  • Designating a Safety facilitator who will be responsible for coordinating OSH activities within the department.
  • Regularly discuss OSH issues or matters in departmental/ management meetings
  • Ensure provision of OSH information, training and Supervision
  • Implement and monitor effectiveness of risk management program.
  • Maintain building and facility in a safe manner
  • Prepare building management plans and budgets
  • Prepare for and participate in Emergency management program
  • Provide expert advice and information in building and facilities OSH Matters
  • Support to develop objectives and monitor achievement of objectives and compliance with HAAD Health Sector 
  • OSHMS requirements across all departments.

Qualifications

  • A Diploma/graduate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or its equivalent.
  • B.E / Graduate Engineer
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in the relevant field.
  • With management skills, interpersonal skills, time management, knowledge of equipment and maintenance, analytical skills
  • Good English spoken and written, Arabic language advantageous, desirable, but not essential.
