Job Description
King’s College Hospital London Dubai is currently looking for a Hospitalist – Surgical Assistant at King’s College Hospital London Dubai.
- To provide a comprehensive Neurosurgery service for King’s College Hospital-Dubai.
The post-holder will:
- Be responsible for the diagnosis and management of patients attending King’s College Hospital – Dubai with conditions requiring neurosurgery expertise.
- Manage a caseload which includes a wide range of health conditions within King’s College Hospital-Dubai facilities providing outpatient, inpatient and day case treatments.
- Ensure the highest standards of care for all patients.
- To adhere to the manifesto of care expected of all physician at King’s College Hospital-Dubai.
Clinical – under the supervision of Consultant Physician
- Investigate and manage patients attending and admitted to King’s College Hospital/Clinics -Dubai, under the supervision of the Consultant Neurosurgeon, across a range of medical specialties.
- Diagnose and treat patients according to established standards of best practice.
- Review the results of all investigations in a timely fashion and modify treatment as required.
- Liaise with senior clinicians with regard to decision making for in-patient care including carrying out care plans.
- Conduct daily ward rounds in-patients with the consultant.
- Review patients on a regular basis in accordance with the plan of care made on the ward round.
- Perform clinical duties under the supervision of the admitting consultant and maintain regular communication with regard to patient management decisions.
- Take hand over of patients from previous shift specialist in order to ensure continuity of care
- Ensure protocols are followed with regard to obtaining appropriate consent for interventional procedures.
- Respond to requests by the nursing team and medical colleagues to review the medical condition of patients on the ward.
- Comply with the established King’s College Hospital/Clinics -Dubai practices regarding outpatient consultations, day care, inpatient and discharge protocols, and follow up.
- Comply with the requirements of the regulatory UAE medical health authorities with respect to all professional practices.
- Communicate with the consultant in charge regarding day to day clinical management decisions and in particular liaise with senior medical staff regarding management of the deteriorating patient.
- Accurately document all relevant patient information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with King’s College Hospital/Clinics -Dubai health record keeping policy.
- Communicate medical information to patients and the patients’ families.
- Liaise with other medical, surgical, and anaesthetic specialities and professional support services for additional input as required.
- Assist in the triage and surgical admission of patients referred from other speciality Medical Centres, walk-in patients and patients referred from other hospitals.
- Work effectively and efficiently within the team structure of the King’s College Hospital/Clinics -Dubai treatment centre by maintaining a good working relationship with other members of staff, promoting collaboration and adopting a team-based approach to patient care.
- Implement, support and follow all clinic initiatives, policies and procedures.
- Practice only within the privileges granted by King’s College Hospital/Clinics -Dubai and UAE medical health authorities.
Qualification:
- MBBS or MD
- Qualification in Surgery with interest in Neurosurgery
- UAE Medical Health Authority License
- Resuscitation as per the specialty
- Has worked in hospital or similar setting for at least 2 years
