Phlebotomist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible to draws blood from patients, collects a variety of other specimen samples as well as label the blood vials that have filled. The position holder will also be responsible to send the blood and specimen samples to the laboratory in the hospital.

Key Accountabilities:

• Draw blood and collect various specimen samples from patients.
• Properly label blood vials and manage logistics for sending samples to the laboratory.
• Prioritize daily activities based on urgency of requests.
• Verify patient identities using ID and other documents.
• Assess and select the appropriate venipuncture method based on patient-specific factors.
• Provide reassurance to patients and help them feel at ease during the process.
• Locate suitable veins for puncture and perform blood draws with sterilized equipment.
• Ensure the quality and quantity of samples meets standards.
• Maintain accurate records of specimens and tests conducted.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Assist with blood transfusions as necessary.

 Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory or equivalent.
• Valid DHA Laboratory Technician license.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a relevant service environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with patients and staff across all levels.
• Problem-solving abilities to manage unexpected challenges effectively.
