Job Description

 Performs all functions and duties of an Medical oncological surgeon provides expert medical care for ambulatory and hospitalized patients, including pre- and post-operative cases and such Medical Oncology   procedures as are within incumbent’s competence.
•    Provides consultation services to physicians and other surgeons and other specialists if and when required.
•    Assumes after-hours responsibilities for the care of assigned surgical cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized.
•    Orders diagnostic laboratory studies and X-ray examinations, determining the diagnosis and prescribing applicable therapy.
•    Determines the eligibility of patients for admission.
•    Adheres to the By-laws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Department and assures that work performed is in keeping with the established standards of the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospitals.
•    Consults with anesthesiologist on the choice of anesthesia to be used.
•    Participates in and contributes to in-service activities such as lectures, conferences and rounds.
•    Participates in the Quality Assurance activities of the Service (morbidity and mortality reviews, peer review activities etc.).
•    Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of the department.
•    To follow appropriate international guidelines, MOH regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.

Qualifications

 Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship.

•    Board-certified or board-eligible in oncological Surgery.  At least Five (5) years of practice limited to oncological surgery since certification.
•    Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
•    Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership. He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Surgical Department policies and procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
•    Current licensure in country of origin 
•    Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
